The IS-F engine is mated to the world's first eight-speed direct sport-shift transmission. A new torque-converter lock-up control was developed that allows for a direct, crisp gear change through the constant lock-up of the torque converter in second through eighth gears. In Drive mode, the IS-F transmission performs with great smoothness, and the torque converter allows for great launch ability for fast standing-start acceleration that will register a zero-to-60 time in less than 4.9 seconds.
This unique transmission also features an advanced Manual mode. A pair of paddles located within a fingertip's reach behind the steering wheel enables the driver to make ultra-fast up-shift gear changes within a tenth of a second. Downshifts are accompanied by automated and incredibly precise throttle blips to match engine RPM to vehicle speed.

Lexus is growing up, not catching up...
YAY!
Not for trying to be like the M3, but a "YAY" for Lexus in providing their customers (Lexus owners, not German car owners) a little something extra that has been lack-luster in the past.
In other words, thanks Lexus for giving us a "little" more performance and handling oriented vehicle that truly marks the beginning of a new era. Lexus is doing something for themselves, not trying to catch up with the others...

It's interesting. I think you'd really have to see it in person. If it's priced bout 59k with roughly bout a 55% residual you'd have bout 1800 down & 1100 mo payment on 36mos. Dunno if it's worth THAT much more a month!! I'd maybe rather have a 650i coupe...

Poll is misleading
This poll is misleading if someone have not look the rest of the pictures. I think the majority here likes the front of the car. The problems are with the design looking from the side of the car. I'm sure the results of this poll will be different if only the pictures of the side of car were available in the thread.
I'm very disappointed with Lexus' design team. The IS 2nd Gen design is a masterpiece in it class, for me the No. 1. In the other hand, the IS-F is strange and odd looking. Only the front and the back are acceptable. If I won this car on a contest, without any hesitation I would sell it and buy BMW M series.
