Default I hate visiting the dealership!

So I brought in my car because my brakes were squeaking pretty badly and the rattles in the dash. "We could not duplicate the problem." Of course they always say that. And he was talking about how "these are normal conditions on all of our cars." Squeaky brakes are normal condition?! Yea OK!

That's unfortunate.

Contact your Regional Lexus Managers and professionally address your concerns. The regional managers are more aware of the concerns of our cars than individual privately-owned dealerships.

Good luck and I hope all your concerns are addressed. Keep us informed.

The next time you take it in, ask politely to take the service writer or technician on a drive, and demonstrate the problems.

Thinking about this practically, they're only going to drive the car for a few minutes, or that's all they'd do all day. The short test drive is probably insufficient to diagnose many rattles. I have no idea how they missed a brake squeal, though.

Yea seriously. I have an appointment tomorrow with them. I will be taking a tech with me so this time they won't miss the problems. And for the brake squeal, it's not all the time. It's happens about 50% of the time that I slow down.

yea, i had this vibration in my passenger door that would rattle on certain bass notes, but for some reason I could never duplicate it cuz i would forget like which track or music made it happen. Finally, I made the guy get in the car with me for like 5min, and he heard it. He sprayed some foam insulation in there and fixed the issue.

Just stick with them.

Tell me about it. I took my car in to Longo on Saturday. What surprised me was that when I got back to the dealer after the test drive I told him that I had a printout from this forum which talked about the fix used on the same issue that I had. I thought maybe it would be helpful to him. He took it from my hand didn't even open it and said:

"We don't like to look at these because people that are in those forums just complain. One user posts that they have a problem and then suddenly everyone has the same issue."

After that he just tossed it to the back seat. What the hell !!!!

Took mine to the dealer for brake noise...turns out I had 2mm left on the pads. Go figure, 11K miles and I dont drive it that hard!! Anyhow, Southbay Lexus gaveme the old "good will, one time" brake job (pads and machined rotors). Good as new.

So I went on the drive and the brakes wouldn't squeal! wth? and for the rattles.. I could hear it, but they could not. Weird. However, they are going to take out the dash and fix it for me anyways.

At least they'll take care of the rattles...

Sometimes, the brakes squeal when wet, like after you wash the car or after a rainy day. Perhaps this would replicate the brake squealing? Get the brakes wet when you bring the car in for the rattles... maybe...
