I'm pretty sure the coefficient of drag and the front-cross-sectional area of the IS from underneath the car are both significantly higher than those from in front of the car. Probably more than enough to make up for the little boost the falling IS would get off the line. And they DID show the IS landing flat on the ground, so I guess it kept that orientation the whole time it was falling.

Here is an even better quality clip (and its probably not blocked ):
http://www.macguff.com/mgx//79_mov/1...470x264_30.mov
Edit: Assuming no air resistance, the car would strike the ground in 15.774 seconds:
1219.2=4.9*T^2
(4000 feet=1219.2 meters)

You are correct - notice the pic of the front calipers [below]. I thought that IS took off a little quick w/out wheel spin; this was probably the IS250 AWD. Not really all that important - still a great commercial nonetheless

Because nearly all of the viewers would have no idea it's a 250, and most of the rest wouldn't care because it's just a commercial.

Whoa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Easy fellas. Let's try to remember that we are all here to help and learn from one another.
No need to take this clip too seriously. I am willing to bet that Lexus did not intend for this clip to cause arguments and grief.
Let's understand it for what it is:
-It got your attention
-The idea was cool
-Makes those that have IS350 smile, and those that don't have one want one...
It peaks curiousity!

Let me remind you this is a LEXUS forum, this is baiting people to attack you. If you are not a brand snob, act like it (per your signature).

Some of you guys are really analyzing this commercial WAAAAY too much. Who cares if it may be a 250 when they say 350 in the commercial. The commercial is geared towards NEW customers... not people who will freeze frame the shoot and check if its AWD/RWD... 250 or 350.
Generally speaking, I think its a great commercial. Even if its a 250, which I could care less... It puts you on the edge of your seat when you see the black IS crash behind the Silver one.
