Question Circles in glass of door mirrors

Hi,

When I first got my IS350 a few months ago I noticed at night (when the vehicle behind me headlights would reflect in the mirror) hairline scratches. Kinda of looked like spider web lines. My dealer ordered another mirror and it was installed. Problem is now I notice in the center of the mirror a circle distortion the size of a dime only at night when headlights from behind hit it. I was told by the Lexus dealer to call Lexus Tech Support for their opinion, but have yet to do so. I want to know if anyone has experienced this and if so, is it normal? It really bothers me to see it every night. Please give me your thoughts.

Danny

I thought I ruined my mirror, so I never mentioned...after reading this, probably it's not my problem then...

Happened on my drivers side mirror, went in, and they replaced the ENTIRE housing and mirror... costs about 600 bucks, but they covered it under warranty.

there is a whole thread on this already but its cool. I have had the same problem from the getgo. The first time they replaced it but after washing my car with microfiber the driver mirror is all scratched up again. I contact lexus and they said there was nothing they could do because they have never been contacted about it. I forwarded them the thread and they still said no. I say we petition because even though they say these mirrors are glass they are plastic for sure because glass does not scratch that easy.

Ditto, but only in my driver's side mirror... been like that since day one so it must be something in the manufacturing process

Same here...driver side mirror scratches after using a microfiber towel. But get this, I used the same towel on the passenger side but no scratches. I told the dealer this and they couldn't explain it. They think it's something I did wrong. I've never experienced this on all my previous cars. Anyway, they replaced it for free. They called it "good faith" warranty. Ever since it was replaced I only used a polishing cloth. No scrtaches so far.

Flipsonic.
This is good info. What is the difference between your micro fibre and your polishing cloth. More directly, what is your polishing cloth texture and what is it made of. Thanks.
