Question about illum. door sills... could use some help.
Here's the deal.
I can order the illuminated sill plates online, and also get the rear sills for around $300 total. The dealer has quoted me a price of $540 installed if I order it through him.
I want to just do it myself, but I heard that I may have problems getting the lights to work on my IS.
I did not pick up the car yet. I special ordered an '07 IS with seven options back in October. It's expected to be in the US by the end of the month.
So, should I just do it myself and save the $240, or have them do it for me so it's done when I pick up the car?

For the 06's, if you ordered the sport pkg, the illuminated sills were just a plug and play install.
For 07, I'm guessing the same applies. The X-pkg obviously already comes w/illuminated sills. But if you bought a base model, there's going to be wiring involved.

I apologize for not listing the options.
Premium package
Nav
HIDs w/ headlamp washers
Parking assist
Ground effects kit
Spoiler
From what I have been told, there is a plug input that you can just plug the illum. door sills in if you do not get the sport or luxury package.

How easy is it to uninstall the stock ones and install the illum. plates? Do the old ones snap out and the new ones snap in? Do you just have to have the dome light switch to a certain mode for the illum. sills to work?
I would assume the rear sills are the same as the front.

Will it be plug and play for me also, or do I have to do any cutting of wires??
Does it come with directions on how to install in the package??

You're more than likely to make some modifications, but I might be wrong. Just take off your door sill and see if you have the connector. If you need to modify here's the link: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...ated+door+sill

I could swear that "Premium" package meant that you get illuminated door sills. At least that was the only thing I didn't have on my "sports package".. so I just ordered them, and install myself.
