Why didn't my IS250 sell?
So I had my IS250 up on eBay last week, and the bidding started out fine. I had a large number of "watchers", and within a few days the bid was already up to almost $20K. Then it's like the car just disappeared from view, and the auction ended at under $21K without any action.
I'm really surprised because of the limited availability and the high popularity of the car.
Private party book value on the car is $29-$30,655, based on what you decide to list the condition at. So I had a "buy it now" price of $28,900, and a reserve of $28K.
Is the "buy it now" deal what scared people off? I might be better off listing it again without that. Thoughts?

I am sorry to hear your auction ended like that... I would rather suggest you to have the "Make an Offer" instead of Bidding or Buy It Now. I am seeing a lot of that now a days on Ebay!!.. that way you can compare offers and reply.

yeah the buy it now option does tend to scare buyers off. I agree with sk, the make an offer option gives potential buyers more of a sense of control over the situation.

I might try those other sites too. I've just heard of so many success stories selling on eBay, seemed like it'd be the best and quickest place to handle the transaction.
I might also wait a week or two, and relist it on eBay. This time without the "buy it now".

Is ebay really the best way to sell a car? A lot of people who shop for a car on ebay are really looking for a bargain or a hard to find car
My suggestion is to sell your car on auto trader. Use the Advertise it till it sells feature and adjust your price according to what you see on that site... in your area.
Or do an advanced search on ebay to see what similar IS250s sold for.
I sold my IS350 that way for 33K(18s and thats it). Probably that car is now worth 30-31 due to the 07s being out. (BTW, the Dealer offered me 31K for the car)

Good things about eBay: lots of people looking at your car; no haggling if sold.
Bad things about eBay: most people buy depending on their location and the location of their car; if there is a reserve, people don't want to give an "i'm interested" bid and end up getting it; if there is a Buy-It-Now price, they can't haggle; high fees to post and to pay if the car is sold.
I tried selling my last car on eBay. It didn't work.
I sold my car using AutoTrader (the magazine and on-line) and I had about 3-4 inquiries a week. Sold it in three weeks...

Have you tired putting it on autotrader.com? I found my IS on that site in back in December. I drove to Oklahoma to pick it up and I love it! It was a great x-mas gift. The seller only had it listed for a week.
