I don't think there was anyone saying a remote start wouldn't work on a manual, but it isn't a good idea. If someone does leave the tranny in gear (like I've always done), then a remote start could be very dangerous.

It wouldn't be too hard to look on TIS to see if there is a Neutral signal from the tranny to the ECU. Of course, I don't have a manual, so I don't really care about it. LOL
There isn't. There's nothing from the transmission telling the ECM what gear you are in.
That's surprising that it doesn't at least have an indicator for neutral. If you pop out of gear with the cruise control engaged, the engine will free rev in an attempt to maintain speed.
