JP Nav Installed in Non-Nav ML IS250 (No 56K)
A little bit heavier compared to Non-Nav console
System Start...Japanese
Climate...Air Con okay
Audio...The JP Nav is Non-ML but my Non-Nav is ML. System found ML Amplifier and show ML options.
Wow...Can control volume of parking system.
Wow...Can change size of display system.
Sigh...This map is useless since I am not driving in Japan.
System Check...No ETC and some issues found.

To be frank, I am very happy when I saw the start up screen.
And it took me some times to find out the differences between US and JP system. Because my car doesn't come with those Nav connectors, I have to connect the Nav cables to my existing system. And the whole process is very interesting when I read both US and JP wiring diagrams.
Now my next step is to find out why I can't play external video signal. According to my friend, it should work after I plug in a cable. Maybe I didn't deal with the SPD or PKB signal (I should bookmark the DVD Hack thread.). And then I want to use Bluetooth (I will need a new button on my steering. Also a microphone.). The last one should be the backup camera. It will be good if I can get a US ML DVD changer. Then I can play DVD in my car. However, it is very hard to get these components from Lexus. So pleas pm me if you know where can I get ML DVD Changer, thanks!

WHAT! HOW DID YOU DO IT? I have a prerelase nav right next to me, I would like to install in my cousins car. I tried to install it, but it seemed impossible!
HELP ME OUT!
Props to you for being the first to take such a big risk!
AND HELP!!!!! All I have is the nav console itself, what other parts do I need? antenna? Back up camera? Microphone? Do I need more? Can I live with just the antenna?

COngrats. I knew it was very possible.
Regarding the back-up camera, you should be able to add an aftermarket one.
If you need the pin out, let me know. There should be 4 wires you would need to connect. 2 for power and 2 for video feed.
Ahh.. looking good right now. I would definitely buy a Eclipse camera or Kenwood camera since those two are one of the better quality.
Have you tried loading the US Map Disc? It is something you should consider as well.

I want an American one but my dealer said that he can't sell that separately because he doesn't think it will work That is why I got this from Japan Yahoo Auction.

I would buy a Toyota backup camera from Japan Yahoo auction. Because Toyota and Lexus share the same supplier, I can get the same connector and almost the same camera but cheaper than to get it from Lexus.
US version uses DVD but JP one uses hard disk
