How in the world can you compare engine torque on two completely different drivetrains? Engine peak torque doesn't mean anything. Torque at the wheel does. Without knowing the gear ratios of each in combination with engine torque, you have no idea how the cars compare.

I took my numbers from the Acura and Lexus websites. I don't care to go back and look them up again, but the difference was approaching 200 pounds.

Then you wait for the perfect used one to pop up. They are out there! And you can get one for about the same price as an IS250. I think its ridiculous to pay for the initial hit when you can get the same car for thousands less than BRAND new.

That's weird. Both times, I clicked on "IS 250 RWD". After a long delay/freeze-up, scrolled down and grabbed the weight.

Yeah, the website has been goofy lately. I can no longer log on as an owner... or register.

i'd say it's a tie. The TSX has the slight weight advantage...where as the IS250 has the 6speed ect-i advantage. Thus nullifying the whole comparison.

Yea I'm just not comfortable knowing someone else drove the car before me. I'm alittle OCD.

TSX: 4 cylinder is not smooth, especially with the AC on.
Engine sounds hollow during accelaration.
Vtec mode feels like a little push from a midget. The engine is tuned for mid power band as in most sedan's, so theres not much kick in high rev.
TSX feels very light, but still drives like a tank with the 50 side wall tires. Close one of the doors and you can hear why(especially the front).
I wont go into anymore details as this is just a performance between the two cars.
The IS250 feels more tight, sturdy, yet comfortable. The handling feels more secure when taking sharp turns. As far as option wise, the tsx takes the win for price value.
Thanks for the comments!

Give me a break.

It's mind-blowing how much everyone dwells on horsepower around here. Straight-line performance aside, the IS250 is every bit the "sports sedan" the 350 is. In fact, it's the more-balanced of the two without the added weight of the 350's bigger V-6.

The Camry is a lifeless appliance regardless of how much horsepower it puts out. Anyone who puts the Camry in the same class as the IS250 is concerned with how competent it is on paper and little else. The driving experience is garbage, and no amount of horsepower can change that.

The added weight isn't the engine. There's a 2 lb difference between the 2GR-FSE and 4GR-FSE. The weight difference is in the gearbox, differential, subframe supports, wheels, and brakes. 2GR = 399 lbs, 4GR = 397 lbs.

Sports Sedan does indeed not equal power. Look no further than the Altima SE-R or Maxima with "quad" exhausts. They drive like Buicks.

The Porsche Cayman is slower than most of the Lexus cars. It is sporty as they come. The Miata/MX-5 is not a HP king, it is sportier than most anything out there.

Power sometimes corrupts, I have wrote in my reviews of the IS, I had MORE FUN and felt more in CONTROL with the IS 250, the IS 350, the power and engine, IMO overpowers the chassis. It still is fun, but the IS 250 did feel better balanced, TO ME.

I don't own an 2IS, I did own a IS 300 at one time. If its had a Lexus badge, I've driven it. Giving my opinion which has a little "weight" around here

And IS 350 has a hard time or decent race putting these "4 cylinder" cars away
Lotus Esprit
Lotus Elise
Honda S2000
Evo
WRX Sti
SRT4 Neon

Some people simply DO NOT CARE about straight line acceleration. It is NOT a buying point. There are 4 cylinder 3 and C and A4 cars we simply do not get here.

Hell they sell a 520 in Europe, with 154hp!
