so, my g/f borrows my car for the day. decides to be nice and fill it up and wash it. she took it through one of the exxon touch-less jobs. i think that useless spray on colored crap they call wax has ruined my wheels. they have that color changing effect oil gives off, and when i try to clean them that is when it really shows through after all the brake dust and general dirt is gone.
is this permanent?? any idea for restoration?

06 Volk GT-S. spokes are in gunmetal so the only portion affected is the polished lip. whether there is a clearcoat on it i don't know, never heard of a coat on wheels.
I've tried a couple different cleansers but that purple->red->blue type hue (think oil slick) is still there. it seems faint at times, and very pronounced at others depending on how clean the wheel is and how closely you are observing it.

had two sets of volks and they have a clear coat over the lip.I found this out by trying metal polish and not knowing that they are cleared.Ended up ruining my clear coat and had to have them repainted.BIG PAIN!
Try wax frist if that does not work try a light hand glaze then wax.

yea...alot of aftermarket rims have clear coats over the lip...after washing it by the touchless wash, the sun most likely baked the crap on you rim lips...try using Meguairs NXT Metal Polish...that should take care of the problem, if not then just get the clear coat repolished off at a rim shop...should run around 20 bucks or so a wheel...and then ull never have the problem of discolored lips =)
