Question Drag racing wheel suggestions for the IS350

Anyone know if the 3rd gen RX-7 16" wheels would fit the IS350? I know R0RO has the 17" 5zigen wheels and I pm'd him for the size, but if there is a cheaper alternative such as the RX-7 wheels I'd jump on that instead and throw on some drag radials. My goal for this upcoming season is a 13 flat, so my first step is getting the most traction possible off the line.

Here is a picture of RoRo's 5Zigen wheels and Nitto Drag radials. He said these tires/rims weigh 47 lbs, which saved him 8lbs per wheel compared to the stock 18's.

I don`t know about fitment but I do know that every 100 lbs that you can squeeze out = 0.1 tenth faster times , so you only have three hundred lbs to lose..lol!

Lol yeah unfortunately I have no weight to lose. 160lbs and any lighter I'll look look like Nichole Richie. Along the lines of losing tenths off the quarter mile is getting a good 60' time. I have yet to get anything better than a 2.0 and I believe with some lightweight rear wheels and sticky tires I can nail a 1.8 or better which should put me that much closer to a 13 flat.

with my old is300 on 255/45/17 I could pull 1.7 60 foot times drag rad.so those rims might be a good option but ,i`d run 275/40/17 drag tires.and leave the tires in the pic on the front.drag tires are lighter also.what weight reductions have you done?

So far the only weight reduction I have done for the track is pulling the spare tire/jack. I have some Michelin PS2's that will be on the car this spring which are a few lbs lighter than the stock Dunlop tires. Was your IS300 boosted? 1.7 60' time is impressive!

yeah boosted @600 rwhp on 93oct. but nothing but trouble once I hit the 400 whp mark the car became a money pit!!!sold to fund a more reliable car.
I do miss the power and owning every s/c mustang and corvette on the rd. best time was 11.02@121 mph.I can`t wait to see what my new 350 will do.

Well you won't come anywhere close to that 11 second time with the IS350 no matter what you do with whats available currently. Maybe in 5 years or so we'll see something.

yeah i know, have you heard of any one adding the bottle to any is350s.a 75 shot would pull you down in the 60 ft area . maybe even @1.6 or better.

I would go with a 16" if there are good tire sizes available for them. You will need to do some calculations to see how the outer tire diameter will effect your gearing. If you lower your gearing too much, you may inheret an extra gear shift before the 60' and / or quarter mile mark.
