Default Swirl Marks??

Hey guys I ordered my 250 a little while ago, and would like to know once it arrives if Lexus will wash the car before it's delivered? because the car is black and I've heard of the black cars having swirl marks left on it after it was washed by the dealer... any of this hold up to be true? Thanks

I'm not sure if all Lexus washes the car before its delivered, but I wouldn't have the dealer wash it. Just do it yourself since you would care more than the dealer will. If it does come with swirls, tell the dealer you won't accept it unless they buff the swirls out of the paint.

you're gonna get swirl marks now or later anyways, so i recommend if you want to get a black one, learn how to detail you car!

One problem with not having the car clean at the time of delivery is it will make a detailed visual inspection of the body more difficult. You don't want to drive off of the lot without having all cosmetic problems noted. A car fresh off the boat, then trailered to the dealer, then maybe sitting on the lot for a while makes for a dirty car. Your call as to whether you want them to wash it first before delivery. For me this is another reason to shy away from a dark color. But to each their own.

I would suggest that you ask the dealer not to wash it. Just take it straight to a detailing place and have them use a high powered buffer on your car for the first time...either that, or just wash it yourself.

I owned a black car for 15 years. Friends and family never thought it was that old. Black will be your worst nightmare, BUT it is the best looking car when detailed. My Lexus does wash the car, but when I get home I detail it. Rubbing paint will eventually give it marks. It's what you rub it with, and it's what you do after it's dry.

this is a true statement. And you will become a very good detailer at that.

I second that also. I never ever detailed my old silver car. Now with my Obsidian Black IS, I've detailed it more in the first 3 months than my old car in 7 years! I even got a PC now! Black is impossible to keep clean. I just washed and did a quick detail today. By the time I got to the mall, it was all dusty again. And the swirl marks are another story I rather not get in to. I doubt I will ever get a dark color car again... too much work!!!
