Default tire question

will it be a problem with the TPMS if I get tires installed at Costco? Or do I have to go to the dealer? I can order the pilot sport A/S from costco and they will install for a good price, but not sure if the TPMS thing will be an issue.
Thanks
Momma

shouldn't be a problem at all. just let the person know that your car is equipped with TPMS and they will take extra care not to damage them.

we had michelin pilot sport a/s put on our SC and GS by costco and loved them.

The tire installer would have to make SERIOUS mistakes to damage the TPMS sensors. They are tucked way up inside the wheel.

I thought we had the sensors that are adjacent to the valves? No? The guy on MotorWeek (on Speed channel) said that the mounter would need to know what he was doing - for example, starting the mounting/dismounting bar (or whatever it's called) at the proper point on the tire/rim, relative to the TPMS. I would at least ask the service manager whether the tech doing it has some experience with TPMS tires.

The sensor is integrated into the valve stem. The guy that dismounts / mounts the tire would just need to be someone that knows what he is doing. I would hope that anyone mounting tires would meet basic qualifications for the job that they are performing whether the wheels have TPMS sensors or not.
