. They use special torque wrenches with about 8 lbs of pressure.

Yea, this is where you need the man's list of standard torques:
Finger Tight
Screwdriver Tight
Ratchet Tight
Breaker Bar Tight
Cheater Bar Tight
Too Damn Tight (also sometimes known as Impact Wrench Tight)
I think you want to be somewhere between finger and screwdriver.
