I just picked up this oil today. Was wondering how it would compare to synthetic.

I went with the TSIB and changed with 5W-20 Mobil 1 full synth at 3500 miles. But I am not real convinced the TSIB applies to all of US because it's been a while and Lexus dealers are still using 5W30.

so do you think I should just use 5W30 after I run out of 5W-20? I am afraid the 5W20 does not give enough protection (too thin?)

Before you get all dead set on this, check out the Blackstone thread with used oil analysis from a few of us. There's no real advantage to the extended performance when you can go 10k on standard Mobil 1.

I am not up to date on how to use synthetic oil with oil filters... If you use synthetic, you change it every what? around 10-15k miles (?)....
But, what about the filter. Isn't it supposed to be changed every 3K-5K miles? So there is another filter that you use w/ synth oil?
I am amateur DIY, and I always use regular oil and filters on my Accord. Never tried the synthetic stuff...
We just got our '04 RX330 yesterday. I think it is normal for my first post to be a noob question....
Thanks for any explanations...

hey all,

I've got approximately 40,000 miles on the car, and I'm going to start to do my own oil changes and considering switching to 5w-20 synthetic.

I apologize if this has been covered before, but is it too late to switch to synthetic?
