It appears that the HKS cans are stainless and the piping is reg steel (dark) , according to picts I have seen. So wont these rust eventually? Thats the only reason why i am not sure about the HKS. I love HKS products though.

According to the GB thread about the HKS, the piping is "coated stainless 409". Honestly though, I don't think any piping material is going to rust out in less than 5 years. AFAIK, none of the stock exhaust is stainless.
**UPDATE FROM HKS "The muffler bodies and tips are polished Stainless 304 (SUS304) and the piping is coated stainless 409." PLUS NO CINFIRMED FITMENT FOR THE AWD MODELS. **

The entire stock exhaust is stainless according to Lexus New Car Features.

The Tanabe and Greddy have stainless everything, I am disappointed at HKS for the "coating" , It probably wont rust for a very long time, but more comfortable with full stainless. HKS still and has been my favorite tuner though.

Ithink it is a more mild steel, so they need to put a coating on it. Why wouldnt they just use non coated stainless steel then. Its probably a cost saving issue to use a milder steel w/ coating then full stainless. Thats what I think , I could be totally wrong.

I've had the Lexus HKS now for about three months and you will notice it progressively getting deeper in tone over a period of time and the tail pipe tips are huge! The Lexus HKS version is fully polished from flange to tip with impeccable welds through out and is uncoated. I thought it was just in my head but I also noticed the "lighter" throttle when I first drove it after changing the exhaust,...I also disconnected my battery to reset the computer because I noticed the exhaust was popping on over run in pwr mode?!

Damn, an 11 rear wheel hp gain??? That's REALLY good. Almost too good to believe for an exhaust that leaves all the cats in place.
Are you running stock other than the exhaust?
If Gernby's results are similar, I might just be sold on this exhaust.
EDIT: But I gotta say, I'm a little discouraged by the way you described the size of the tips... I mean, I don't want it to look ricey, like there's a couple of fart cans in the back.

Something else to keep in mind about the peak gains is that it doesn't sound like the car was driven at all after installing the exhaust. The long and short term fuel trims would not have had any time to adjust for the slightly leaner AFRs. This could have caused a temporary gain in power that will quickly be reduced as the ECU compensates with more fuel. Did the shop record AFRs for all of the dyno runs?
