plastic engine cover!
so it snowed (again for the 7th weekend in a row ) IN DENVER.
new 350 sat in the garage all, day. i did some manual reading , and playing with systems in the garage, etc.
i open up the hood, and lo and behold. the silver colored engine cover is plastic.
how guache!

And you were expecting ..... ? The plastic cover serves it's purpose, it's light, durable and looks good. What else do you want?

It kills me to find out how much people actually do research on the car they bought. It never occures to people to pop open the hood and look around, pop open the trunk and see the capacity it holds. Get in the back seat and see if this will be enough room. Not to say that a plastic cover will sway your decision, but to have it be the FIRST time your looking at the engine bay after you buy the car. And complain about it. WOW!

so lexus marketing did predict correctly. a large number of their buyers will NOT open up their hood or even care about whats under it.
which brings me to my point about having the cover there. It looks good from afar, and the owner would not want to see the dirt/wires/engine area because we are all "rich white people who would only pay lexus to service our cars"
