Default Aftermarket Bluetooth

Hi All,

Just joined the forum after I bought my new IS last night (I know I need to post some pics already ). I didn't care to spend the >$2G for the nav system, but would love to have the bluetooth functionality. Have any of you heard of a good solution? I'd prefer to have one that doesn't require the use of a visible microphone.

Thanks for the help!

-Nick

parrot has a plug and play kit that fits directly into the 12V power socket...

another option would be getting a portable nav unit with built in bluetooth...i believe some tomtom and garmin models have BT

hope that helps

I have a Garmin Nuvi 660 GPS. The Bluetooth works great with my Razr. I have mine mounted in the ashtray.

Thanks for the ideas. I was really hoping I could install something completely hidden away that would interrupt the stock stereo like the Nav Bluetooth system does. Guess I'll keep looking around.

Just saw this Parrot CK3000 Evolution at Crutchfield.com. It connects to your factory stereo and pretty much hidden accept for the mic and control ****. Looks like it could even fit and hide in the ashtray.

Oops... I just checked Crutchfield's website and it says the Parrot isn't compatible with the new IS cause there's no harness available. But I bet there's a way to get it to work with some tinkering. Here's the wiring diagrams for connecting it to an old IS200. Looks like you can install it by cutting into the wires instead of requiring a harness.

EDIT: There is a harness available for the new IS... http://www.parrotkits.com/donotcut.html

Thanks for the help guys. Hopefully something will come out eventually that integrates as well as the Nav one did.

I installed one of these on my wife's Tahoe. With a kit from www.parrotkits.com it is truly plug and play. The problem is trying to hide the adapter harness as well as all the stuff that comes with the Parrot kit. Trying to fit all that in there is a trial. Otherwise, it seems to work out pretty well for her. It mutes the stereo when a call comes in. It automatically hands off to the car system when you're in range and the car is on. I thought about getting one for myself. The size is small enough that I think it COULD fit in the ashtry with some work. I'd suggest this kit along with an adapter from parrotkits.com. The guy that does those harnesses is really nice and would be willing to help you out.

I have the Parrot 3200 Color
(highly recommended) and am using the same harness as mentioned above, the QCJBL-1 from www.parrotkits.com - it is plug and play and as close to factory bluetooth as you can get on the IS....

tomtom does have a nav and bluetooth option.. for extra you can hook up your system to your stock stereo so the music will be interrupted
