Thanks for the pics, Shaft350, but you didn't tell us whether the cops actually found a gun on the carjacker.

i don't know about how these new smart keys work but wouldn't the car shut off if the alarm went off? also - can't you press the panic button on the key? i know that's a lot to think about when you're in the moment but just something for other people to consider if it ever happens to them too. of course i hope it doesn't but just in case.

It doesn't shut off. So long as you don't turn off the motor, you can hop in and drive away without the key.

No he's not the only one. I didn't say anything because this is not my thread and I'm not the one in trouble but if it were me, this would have turned out as an "attempted" carjacking with the carjacker wounded or killed. I would have shot him. Unless I have a weapon pointed at my head with the window down or the door open, I will shoot to kill. I am keenly aware that I am a target and I am always ready.

And the law in on my side as well. Carjacking is a violent forcible felony and the victim is definitely in fear of their life and can use deadly force in self-defense.

Glad youre okay man... a car can always be replaced.

Well... that's what they get for trying to ghost ride the whip in a 306hp car.

You can't fault the guy at all for this. If you wait to see a gun, that might be the last thing you ever see. 306HP is still not faster than speeding bullets... I want to see if you're still rational enough to assess and doubt the presence of a gun in that situation.

Plus, he was in a drivethru. No real place to go if there's a car in front.

After what happened to this guy and what happened to me, there is no faith in people right now...
