Default Spinning Tires

I'm just curious, how much will wider rear tires improve the 'spinning wheels' syndrome (on dry pavement mind you!) that I seem to get every time I put an ounce of muscle into my accelerations. I really feel like I'm not pushing the car very hard for how easily the rear tires are slipping - that is until the stability control kicks in and takes away any remaining acceleration I had hoped for. 10.5" in the back?

Just curious but how many miles do you have on your tires?

You are in Oregon, so my guess is that it is fairly cold. If you are running summer tires it could just be that the compound is hard due to the temps. I don't know if anyone is running 10.5s, that sounds too big to me.

I can mash on my accelerator off the line without any wheel spin. I'm still running with the stock SportMax (16k miles). Of course, with VDIM off, it's a different story.

The temp is most likely a large attribute. It has been high-thirties to low-forties the past few weeks. I'm at right around 15,000, so the treads shouldn't be worn low enough to be an issue. I also have my car in sport mode all the time, and tend to take advantage of the horsepower when possible.

If you are driving that aggressively consistently, your tires and brakes should be near their end, based on what I've been hearing about people's experiences here. I'm 1/15 of the way there, so I have no personal experience to speak of though...

Wider tires are meant to better aid in cornering. For less tire spinning in a straight line, higher sidewalls are your best bet.
