curious for those with no protection if you've had any issues with the NAV screen....scratching, etc.
I just got tired of the fingerprints and ordered one, also to prevent scratches.

Screen Protection
Hi,
Agree - fingerprints show up the same with the protector... I bought the ClearGuard XP based on a CL recommendation ($13 incl. shipping). I'm not impressed with either the fit (relatively large gaps between the sides and bottom of screen) or the glare reduction.
It was, however, easy to apply.
My conclusion: I would not buy another one...

I chose to put a screen protector on because you never know what might cause the screen to scratch. Its the same reason people put screen protectors on PDAs. The plastic simply wears down over time. Touch the same place, day after day(I agree area) over and over again and after a year or two, you will probably start to see that area of the screen smooth out and wear down.
Yeah there will always be finger prints and glare reduction is next to Nil, but having a clean screen that isn't scratched or worn down after a year or two is worth it for $12. After its worn down, there is really not much you can do.

And FWIW, if applied correctly. I've found the the clearguard XP fit perfectly. There is JUST enough space on the edge for the plastic to not get caught on the edges, and you can barely even tell there there is anything on top of the screen.
Not to mention the oils in your fingers is what causes the wearing down of the screen. Its really a personal preference.

No protection. A simple wipe down with a microfiber towel when I wash my car and all is well. Keeping it clean reduces the chance of errant scratches from rubbing dust into the screen during use.
