Or I could just be completely wrong about the Lexus range meter. It wouldn't be the first or last time.
I think the Approx. Range feature is based on the overall fuel mileage average, so it doesn't change much from tank to tank.

You're probably right, though what would cast doubt (a little bit) on that is that given I just hit 1000 miles, my overall fuel mileage average is still moving around a bit. It will still move a couple of tenths for a 50 mile trip. However, the range left never moves up.

For example, if you are at 200 miles left, having driven in the city recently, and you took off on a long road, highway trip, that number might decrease a little slower than actual, but never really goes up. I notice because on a BMW 7, with a big fuel tank, the estimated range (miles used plus miles says it has left) is really variable each time, from under 400 to over 500, depending on how I baby the car.

Anyway, not a big deal. I think that's one of the reasons why some people get more miles past zero than others.

Alright,

I just drove my car with the "Gear" display ON and found that EVERY time I come to a stop........the gear shifts from 6-5-4-2-1!!!!!

Why no 3?

I've never seen that before in other cars so, I am not sure if this is designed that way or not? Also, the RPM when I come to stop is around ~1200 range!! Does your's do that too....?!?!

I'll use the tank MPG and the outside temp most of the time. I toggle between those two the most. The real time MPG monitor is pretty neat to watch too.

I usually do temp/mpg

You guys know that you can reset your avg. speed and I think tank mileage, right?

I find that the average speed is always 10mph off.

Meaning I am driving 80 mph for 45 minutes, and may drop down to 70 a few times, and my avg is 66? Seems crazy!!

i usually use avg mpg, or gear position.

but lately, i've been using avg. speed to see how traffic is, and it's way cool.

but my first love is gear position, love to know what the cars doing, in any case.
