Cool Rock Went Thru My Grill

Last Saturday night I was driving and it was dark out and I heard a big clunk. I didn't see that I drove over anything and thought maybe something flew off another car and hit mine. Did a quick check of the exterior and didn't see anything. Last night as I was leaving the gym I walked up to the front of the car (it was almost dark) and noticed something down at the grill. I got real close and saw a rock or something in there. Tried to reach under the car to see if I could get it out and couldn't find an opening. Waited till this morning when it was light out and I still couldn't figure out how a rock got in there as it was all sealed up on the bottom.....then I saw the broken grill. It isn't too noticeable unless you are really looking for it. Got the rock out through the opening. Taking it tomorrow to the dealer for an estimate. Called the insurance company and they said if I wanted to file a claim then they would determine if it is comprehensive $100 deductible or collision $250 deductible. Guess I'll see how much the estimate to fix it will come in at. Guess I'm lucky it didn't damage the paint at all.

u should look around on ebay or maybe those car mod sites for a new grill. be happy it didnt hit the front because it probably would have hit your window after. and by the looks of that grill, it might hurt you as well !

If that is all it cost I'd recommend that IS4ME2 just pay for it rather than get the insurance company involved. That really isn't what the insurance is for, imo.

Cool

Hey, I'm back....good news. The cost is only going to be about $120. $42 for the part and $77 for labor. Won't bother with insurance for this or try to get the part cheaper threw lexus-parts. Plus when I bought the car I used my Lexus Pursuits credit card for $5,000 (the total amount you can put on it towards a purchase per the dealer) so I have $500 of free money to spend at the dealer. Wasn't counting on spending it for this but **** happens. Anyway, it could have been way worse. The rock bounced off the bar that holds the radiator. He said if it would have went in there it would have messed up the air conditioner and it would have cost $800. I wasn't driving fast at all, about 35-40 mph. It was just a freak thing and glad it didn't go through the windshield or damage the paint or bumper. It was a clean shot.

Going in next Monday for the repair. I also showed them the TSIB for the brake pads and they are going to change them out too and give me a loaner car.

Hey Cathy....been busy so haven't been on lately. Did you post about your Cali/Vegas trip???
