Since the lens is out in the open where all the spray is there isn't much you can do except wipe it off occasionally. You could try Rain-X or something similar, but is it really that much of a problem??

nothing you can do about it except maybe wipe off the lens with a cloth, have you tried that?

wiping it off works fine...but the thing is that i back into my drive way and i woudl rather not have to get out during the rain to wipe it off...my driveway is fairly long and there are sprinkler directly beside the edge of the driveway....only reason i asked is bc i have the camera but its usless when i need it after/while it rains...

I find that the interior rear view mirror tends to stay dry during the rain, but the back window does get rain on it. I haven't found a cure yet.

Only kidding. I honestly have no idea how you'd prevent this, other than putting some type of splashguard device around the lens...but that wouldn't look too good.

Backup camera is not meant as a substitute for using the rear view mirrors, and turning around and looking out your back window. It's there to check if anything/anybody is directly in back of the vehicle. Trying to back up and watching the wide angle distorted image on the screen as a guide is not the way to do it.

I agree. It takes 2 seconds to look behind you.... and in all the rain I've been in, I've rarely had a problem with the backup camera being too distorted or fuzzy.

I would say the camera is best used at night. Hard to see things behind you but the back up lights and license plate frame lights help out the most there! I think thats the only time I look down at the nav.. is at night.

The backup camera is useless after driving in the rain. All you need is a few drops of water on it, and it's impossible to see.

I haven't had an issue to date with camera after it rains. I can still see clearly.

A little blurry when it rains but I find still usable.

Since I like using it so much when it's dark out this post gave me an idea. I will be applying Aquapel to it this summer. It's already applied on our stock windows and does a awesome job. I bough some off Ebay to apply it to our other car. Since the camera lens is made of glass it should do the trick.

I guess Lexus needs to design a tiny little windshield wiper and washer for the lens.

Seriously though, the aerodynamics of the back of the car are such that they seem to be a magnet for dirt and road film. Perhaps with a little time back in the wind tunnel, the engineers could make some minor design tweaks to alter airflow near the lens, minimizing the problem.
