Default What will give my IS250 more Horsepower?

I know I shouldve gotten the IS350, but I always wanted a manual tranny and I guess it wasnt "cost effective" for them to make a manual tranny for the IS350. I am happy with my IS250 so far but I want someone to break it down for me and let me know what I can do to make my car faster! I've read posts on intakes and exhaust not doing much, is there anything else I can do? If it boggles down to nothing, I will still be happy. Happy Valentines Day, Thanks.

you can wait until someone boosts the 250. until then you can buy a ~1hp intake and filter and a ~3hp axel back exhaust. you could get the megan racing headers, that would probably add the most HP as the stock ones are restrictive to a degree, and they have that pesky cat on there

borla still claims they are reworking an exhaust for the IS but i'm not sure of it. JIC is supposed to be making a cat back exhaust as well.

In all honesty the amount of money your going to spend to gain an extra 10-15 hp will not be cost effective whatsoever. An exhaust will cost over $1k, a set of headers will be at least $500 and an intake over $200 at least.....you'll be spending $150-200 per hp. In my opinion not worth it. I would just trade the 250 in for the 350, now you have 104 more hp and the 350 responds to mods much better than the 250 so your cost effectiveness will be greatly reduced....theres is even a supercharger kit out for the 350 as well. And who cares if its an automatic, compromise...a least you'll have the paddle shifters I got sick of stick and used to drive and EVO with close to 400 at the wheels, the way I look at it the IS is a luxury car with a little sportiness, I'll save the manual transmission for a real perfomance car like a vette or an Evo.

If someone wants to fix up their 250, so be it. Maybe some of us just want a little more pep than the 204hp that comes stock. No biggie. Not everyone can pullout another 5k and have their insurance go up for another 100hp.

thanks for the responses, like I said I'm still happy with the car. I would be that much happier if I can make my baby run faster. Oh well, slower cars give more time for chicks to check us out. LOL

yeah... i would say just pimp it out... with the amount of money you would have to spend just to get it up to the 350 specs it'll be easier/better for you just to get the 350...

according to some dynos the joe z tube ($110) provides 7rwhp, and the Tanabe (~$575) provides 4 rwhp. Therefore, for $685 you can achieve an additional 15 or so horsepower to the crank, resulting in nearly 220 horsepower. Not bad.

Lol I hear ya man, however, 7rwhp from an intake is a hell of lot more believable than 19. Also, I don't think Tanabe would "lie" about 4rwhp, so i think some credibility should be given to those claims, as opposed to the fujita claim.

haha.. yeah... i'll take 7 for the intake and 4 for the exhaust... i just wanted to point out 19 was silly that's all.
