I would take it to the dealership and see what they can do for you. Sometimes it doesnt need to be re-painted and all it may need is a wet sand and buff to get rid of orange peel.

What kind of carwash did you go too? Was it one of those brushless ones? Many carwashes contain acids which may or may not be diluted properly.

Um...are you sure you mean orange peel? A car wash cannot give a car orange peel. Swirl marks yes, orange peel no.

Did the paint look fine before the car wash? If so, I think you mean swirl marks and that would come from the car wash not using clean water or having some dirt somewhere in the washing process.

If you really do mean orange peel, then that was there long before you went to the carwash. All new cars have some amount of orange peel, but Lexus seems to do a pretty damn good job of laying the paint on smooth-for a mass produced car that is.

Just in case all you havent noticed 99.9% of cars on the road today have some orange peel. The question is how noticable is it. I have seen it on my car somtimes when the light hits it just right. But that doesn't happen very often. No big deal.

Very true! Sometimes a paint job over the factory paint even looks better than the original! 'My buddy had a Mercedes SL500 repainted after 1 week of picking it up and it looks awesome! He got pelted with rocks on the highway when driving behind a gravel truck.

I've never seen orange peel.

Is it possible for you to post a pic?

Just bring it by the selling dealer and have them look at it. Compare it to another IS on the lot (same color). Your car could have been damaged at the port and fixed... If you don't like what the people at the dealership have to say ask to speak with the customer relations manager. Worst case, someone from corporate will come to look at it.

Lexus will take care of you.

Keep us updated on what happens.

I agree. It's more noticable on white color car. It's time for you to clay your car.
