I agree. I don't understand why someone puts them on a luxury sport sedan. If you want to travel with equipment and can afford a new Lex, have a second utility vehicle or truck... or even a another cheaper sedan.

IRC I understand everyone has their own taste. Just like you have "chrome billet grille, chrome side pillars" which I don't understand putting something like that on a luxury sprt sedan. To each his own.

The bike rack is really stable. I've gone up to 100 MPH and didn't see the bike moving too much. The front and rear wheels are held by the locking straps and the down tube is held by the C Clamp. The bike holders have locks on the C-Clamps that grips the down tube. I'm really happy with it.
It also has rubber feet so it won't scratch up the paint. I went ahead and had some of the clear bra material added where the feet touch the roof. I don't leave the roof rack on all the time. It takes around 3 ~ 5 minutes to put it on.
Oh BTW I ended up buying an 2007 Specialized Epic Comp. That thing is great. I still have my Cannondale Jekyll. I'm not sure if I'm going to sell it.
Happy riding and driving.

My bike will fit in the trunk by removing both wheels and the seatpost. About 2 minutes work but better than scratching the car.

Aloha,

I hate to bump this, but I have called Canada dealers and every one of them tell me I am crazy and there never was a roof rack for the IS. I happen to have had one myself on my 2IS but sold it. now I have a 3IS and want one. I think the Gen 2 version would fit looking at the roof and door openings just like it did on the 2IS.

Does anyone know the part number(s) for the racks? With that I can call around and hopefully find some on hold for waranty or something. Any help is appreciated.

Thank you!
