Another HID Question
Hi all,
I have searched and did not find an answer to the question I have.
I have halogen bulbs on my IS350. I want to purchase HID's. (headlights)
Are all HID's (4600k-8000k) brighter than the stock Halogens? I am not comparing HID's to HID's but HID's to Halogens. At what kelvin (if any) is the HID less light than the stock halogen bulbs.
Thank a million!

For HID's, the visible light lost from OEM 4100k to 6000k is roughly 12%. Of course, the higher you go with temperature, the more the loss increases.
As far as the lumen being emitted, the 6000k output (roughly 2900 lumen, depending on your kit) is still more than double that of traditional 55-60 watt halogen bulbs (around 850 lumen). The 4300k is roughly triple (3200 lumen). Even at 10000k (2300 lumen), your output is still significantly higher than halogen, but is not very practical for driving. Light ouput useable by the human eye is not necessarily measured in lumen - a lot of it has to do with the color of the light. Hope this helps!
