i was told my special order was going to take 4+ months....

right now i'm hoping they actually put the order in on the 15th, but i'm having a hard time getting the salesperson to give me a straight answer which is now making me nervous.

They must have told you that to scare you away from a special order.

That's shocking....

Lexus and dealerships MUST wise up if they really want to play in the high performance luxury sector with the IS350 and IS-F. Speed up the sepecial ordering process, Lexus; and educate your dealerships on how to handle them.

The BS that is fed to us by many dealerships is an embarrassment to Lexus. Please take a lesson from BMW and Porsche, both of whom actually encourage special orders. It shouldn't be so difficult!

.....are you listening????

Not really. They've been doing it this way for years, and it has really deterred people that really want specific vehicles.

Actually, I special ordered and got exactly what I wanted, and it came in within the specified 3-4 month period they said it would.

Dealers know about the special order process, I assure you. However, few salespeople are willing to spend what probably adds up to nearly 100 hours over 4 months to keep checking in with the customer just to get a smallish commission at the end. They gotta have food to take home, after all.

Solution? Eliminate commissions on sales. But we all know that won't happen.

Got my special order in 89 days. The salesman checked in with me once during that time and the call lasted less than 2 minutes. I did drop off a small Christmas present for him just before the holiday and that took another 5 minutes. I got the exact car I wanted and for a total of 7 minutes plus the 1/2 hour it took to place the order he got his commission and I got the exact car I wanted. It was well worth the 89 day wait!
