and the stupid thing is that all the other comparable cars in its class are easy to get or obtain. The bmw dealer told me the same thing, if they didnt have it they would trade for it, or put in a special order in for it right away, to get EXACTLY what i wanted. they told me not to settle.

Ah, but it is a two way street. This salesman was the ONLY one who would listen to me and order what I wanted. ML, NAV, etc. AND PCS. Shoot, there were salesmen here in So Cal who didn't even know what PCS was, let alone the fact that the new IS could be equipped with it. So.......a little "thank-you" gift from me was well deserved IMHO. Really, it was so refreshing to actually talk to someone who wanted to work with me and get me what I wanted! And I love it!

He must be a really new salesman. Glad your satisfied, and what's wrong with a little gift for excellent service....nothing --- IMO either.

Irishman06....your assumptions that auto salesman are busy every moment they're at work, and take it takes 100 hours to support a special order, are way off based on all the dealerships I've ever visited.

Care to explain further.

US, Canada...same difference :P. I meant to say the only Lexus assembled in NORTH AMERICA.

Additionally, my assumption wasn't that salesmen are busy all the time, per se, but I'd say not many of them will put time in now to get a commission 4 months from now. In any performance-driven profession, its hard to work like that.

Yeah, right. Might as well say "US, Mexico.....same difference". They are completely two different sovereign countries (US and Canada) with many common interests, but way, way different in their approach to government and social issues. I've lived in Canada for 2 1/2 years and it is hard to believe that there is such a difference in two adjacent countries in many ways. It might seem that Canada and the US are the same, but they are not.

Copy that, which basically seperate professional sales people from quickee order takers. Good service, building client loyalty, understanding the process, learning the product, and possibly doing a "little" extra work, differentitate sales professionals from "just passing through" dealership order takers.

All those commissions start rolling over after the first four months on the job....if you're still employed and there to collect them.

I'm looking to buy an '07 IS 250 AWD and am considering ordering it from Japan to get exactly what I want. Is there a "deadline" to order an '07 from there? And when's the earliest one could order an '08?

I want to own the car by August 1st and am trying to figure out if I need to order it soon/now or if there will be enough inventory around that date to get one off the lot. Anyone know how the inventories are looking in the San Francisco area?

theres has got to be at least one somewhere in CA with what you are looking for. if you cant find it in the bay, why not try down here in LA?
