Just to be clear about the Vin. It's the last 6 digits that indicates the cars build sequence not just the last 4. So for example, my last 6 digit is 011236 and that should clear the tsb.

I guess mine's the only one that actually leaked. The car leaked 2 very tiny spots the size of a quarter over a few months. I brought the car in and he warned me that they might have to take the whole engine out. But, said they would tighten the the cover where the leak is suspected (sorry i dont remember what cover it was) and that I should keep an eye on it. It's been over 5 months now and no leak. It's a Lexus, I'm not to worried...especially since my buddy works for the dealership.
I'm getting close to my 15k service so I'll have him take a look @ it. Other than not having the car for past 3 days (a minor accident on 2/8. A lady tapped my bumper and left license plate screw marks on it) the car has been a blast to drive.

Now I know why they don't publish TSIBs in a public place. I can't believe all the consternation I am reading from people here.
Pulling an engine is NOT rocket science, it's actually pretty straightforward. Getting it out and back in correctly is what these guys are trained to do. Granted, not all techs are equally competent, but come on, this is mechanical repair work. It's not like they're doing a bunch of wiring harness splicing.
There is no magic to the original installation. There is nothing magic about a part originally installed in Japan and never being disturbed from its original position. I've found plenty of oddities in original installations over the years.
Relax. Take a deep breath. IT'S JUST A CAR. If you don't have a leak, smile, be happy and quit wringing your hands about it maybe having an issue someday. If you have a leak, get it fixed. It costs you nothing, you'll get a loaner, and remember THE REPAIR WORK IS WARRANTIED TOO!

Even though the numbers are not in order does not mean they go backwards. So if your last 6 digits are greater than the last 6 digits of the cutoff vin then you are not affected by this TSB.

Got a reference for the numbers not being in production order? It does not follow my experience with multiple vehicles from multiple manufacturers. I've never seen VINs not in sequence with time.

I noticed the 2 drops of oil on my garage floor (if you were to split the engine compartment into four equals part it would be around the right upper quadrant)
Hmm...another land mark might be, if you were able to move your front passengers left foot about 15 inches into the engine bay... thats where it was. LOL. I hope this helps.

I have a question for those of you who maintain VINs are non-sequential: how is it then possible to have ONE production change effective VIN? If you look at other makes, yes, not all of them issue sequential VINs, which is why they have a table of affected VINs for TSBs and recalls.
Also, I call BS on the 20 hours being shoehorned into 15 (the TSIB read 18 when I saw it, I thought...), the inexperience of the techs, etc. I'd wager that if you had two techs working, in a Lexus dealership service bay (I wish I could work on cars in such a nice place), with the detail of a Toyota repair manual, that you could do it in one long day (say 10 hours). Realistically, you load it onto the lift, disconnect all the electrical connections to/from the engine and transmission, get it up in the air, take out the driveshaft, unbolt the subframe, drop it out, fix the cover, put it back in, reconnect, and align it for good measure (not necessary since you've dropped the entire front suspension assembled).
