New EPA MPG Estimates

Gas Mileage
Make sure you don't necessarily rely on the onboard gas mileage estimator. It isn't always dead on. I have had my car since late Nov. 06 and I use a handy software program on my Palm Pilot that calculates fuel efficiency (its a very simple calculation). I have 4,000 miles and my combined average is 24 mpg but remember, I am still in the break in period. Also, my highest mpg on one tank has been 26 mpg and the computer told me 28 mpg. I guess the computer will sync with my Palm's actual data after the break-in period.

My lifetime average in my 350 is 25.9. I can easily get 28mpg avg out of a tank if I control my right foot a bit. But as others have mentioned, it really depends entirely on what type of driving you do, and for the most part I'm going 55-75mpg on surface roads or 80mph on the highway, with few stops.
