Default Tint % Question

I live in Mass where the tint laws are 35%. I obviously want it darker, but my question is what would you do if you were me.....

A) Get the 35% and be safe
B) Get 30% and hope that they can't tell the difference
C) Go 20% and just be careful

I am thinking B, but want to know what you think and is there that much difference between 30 and 35%. Is there a website or something where you can see the difference?

Thanks in advance!!

Do it safe.

There isn't much difference between the two. I'd rather get something lighter and never have to deal/worry about it.

Sometimes, worrying about it is a hassle alone, and you don't want to be paranoid about driving around in your beautiful car...

i hear ya! you cant have anything on the fronts here and i just moved. i have never had a problem before till i moved. 1 week before i picked up my Lexus i got nabbed for no front plate and my windows. i told him i was trading in the car and that was how i got it. i got around the ticket and fear getting it done. of course i have no front plate. they asked me at the dealer if i wanted it on...i said no! i miss the tinted windows but i agree with the last post...is it really worth the difference?

The difference between 35 and 30 isnt great at all. (35 to 20 isnt much better.) So either go legal or illegal (at least 15% or lower). I chose to go legal for this car and ceramic tint (for major heat reduction).

i went illegal. it depends on how badly you want the % and if you're willing to risk it. it's worth the risk for me and i'm happy with my tint. i aint scared of no po po...hahaha.

either go 35 or 20. there is no point in doing 30, because there is literally no difference in the tint with just 5 %, AND its illegal. Also, more than likely, if you get pulled over for tint, they may use a gun or w/e its called that tells them exactly how much percentage it is anyways. So, if your gona go illegal, do it the right way.

I was told that ceramic looks like a mirror when tint levels go to around 40 and below and looks much different than non-ceramic tint.

How much truth is there to that?

I got a non-ceramic 20% tint and have gotten pulled over since then for speeding and they didnt notice. I'm probably gonna go to a 5% ceramic tint soon. I would do 20% and not worry about it.Unless your going to the ghettos of boston where they would call ya on it...

Sorry to describe my ignorance on window tinting ... in Maryland, the law states 35% as the legal limit ... therefore, does that mean I can get 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 or 35% tint on the front and back??

Just trying to understand this better ... since most folks that are quoting me prices on clear bras are also giving me quotes on window tint.

Thanks,
Alex

I had 28% all around done by LExus but then it wasn't dark enough so I slap another 5% on top of it. It's very dark so I put my windows down whenever I see a cop.

The percentage is the amount of light let through, so the lower the number the darker the tint.

So in Maryland you need to go 35, 40, 45... to stay legal.

Must be nice to live in florida.

If you see a cop in the middle of January on a 2 degree New England day and roll your windows down, he wont pull you over for tint, but maybe for insanity.
