The car doesn't "come" with XM radio - it is XM radio ready/compatible. I think you may need an extra antenna, but you certainly will need to subscribe.

The 2IS does not come standard with XM. It's an option. Nothing happened when you pressed the SAT button, because there is no XM receiver attached. If you have an 07, you would connect the receiver to the sharkfin antenna. Sewell sells the XM kits for our cars. That's were I got mine from.

You will have to pay the monthly subsription fee, but to me it's definitey worth it. There were reports recently that XM and Sirius will be merging, but this won't be happening anytime in the immediate future.

Question, does this link to the XM radio package include everything for $100?!? Because the link posted above shows it for $299. $100 seems like a deal to good to be true; am I getting everything I need though?

here's the link:

Well, never mind. I called and they said that it did not have everything that I would need, even though it said "Complete with all hardware and tuner assembly."
AND THEN, they literally changed the price of the same exact item right before my eyes, after clicking the refresh button.
From $100 it went to $299, and I think the only other change was the part number.....slightly.

That sucks, I could of possibly got the full kit for $100 bc of a misprint!

Anyone know if you can hook up the new HD radio with a plug-in of some type so that you don't have to swap out the whole stereo unit? Is there much difference between HD radio and standard or XM?

Uh yea! HD is just the same old 5 minutes of music and 15 minutes of commercials and another 5 minutes of stupid DJs in higher quality audio. XM is a hundred something station of commercial free genre based audio streams. Yes you have to pay for it monthly, and yes there are still the occasional DJs, but it sure beats the hell out of free public radio!
