Ive heard that on the highway premium fuel gets better milage and wont make your engine ping. Ive also heard that the lower octane fuel will affect power, im not a race car driver so Im not concerned if i lose some power.

Also I put full synthetic oil in my car and it was 80bucks and to get regular oil is 36bucks. What are the advantages of getting full synthetic oil? Im not racing my car nor am i driving it in harsh conditions so is it worth paying more?
Kurtz is correct. Engine damage for sure. 91 is less volatile than 87 meaning it takes more compression to heat up 91 than 87. With our compression in our car using 87 will pre ignite the fuel causing a lot more than 1.50 more each gallon.

Perhaps you should avoid redlining it just to be safe, then run your tank to as close to empty as possible before putting premium back in. You should be fine though.

When i bought my car, a very experienced german sales told me , some of his customers put in plus all the time because premium is getting too expensive. He told me, i can do it for a couple of months, it is okay. But longer than that, its no good for the engine. So ur perfectly fine =D

you can always mix it with a higher octane gas. Like i accidently put 89 before, so i topped it off with 100 octane.

its ok to put regular.

but you will see less MPG and less power.

I got 22avg for premium, and 17mpg for regular.

the car is designed to run on 91 octane or higher

lower than that it's likely to knock.

Since it's a modern car it has knock sensors, which then detect the knock and retard the timing to protect the engine from destroying itself.

After a while, since it's programmed for 91, it begins to add timing back... then it'll knock again. And retard the timing again.

Keep putting in regular and it'll keep doing this over and over.

Doing a tiny bit of damage each time. Over 1 tank of gas it's not gonna be anything to worry about, especially if you drive it easy.

It'll probably still run for a good long time, just not as long as if you used what you're supposed to, and certainly not as well

None of them are worth a dime. If you ever investigate blending octane, you'll quickly realize there's nothing in a quart or pint bottle capable of making an appreciable difference in octane.

if it's 87. then just add 94. 91/92 is just a mixture of 87 and 94.

gas stations pretty much only have 2 underground tanks with the highest octane and the lowest octane. everything in between is just a mix

A tank of lower octane will not make ANY difference unless the engine is put under extreme load like, pulling a trailer up hill. If you feel funny about it you can let the tank go down to half and fill it up with 91+. Other wise don't give it a second thought!
