Long story short... I hit a brutal looking pothole on the way to work today and it left a nasty gash in my front tire but luckily didnt bend my rim.
So i headed to Discount tire to get a replacement and was told that they have discontinued our tires. WTF? How can they discontinue tires on a brand new car? I know they are still selling them in some places but i found this to be odd (eventhough I'm not a fan of the stock tires).
So i'm forced to buy a new tire, same brand, size, speed rating etc.
Has anyone else run into this before?

I am aware that there are still some available, I just think it's weird that they aren't making them anymore? I wonder what the 2008's are going to come with, and I wonder why they were discontinued so quickly?
BTW. The discount tire guy called Bridgestone for pricing and was told they were disc. Maybe Tirerack doesn't disc. them until sold out?

you're probably better off swapping them out with better tires. they're decent but i have a few gripes with them. they tramline, are fairly noisy, and aren't that great in wet conditions.

Well, the Potenza RE050 isn't exactly new, they have been around.
Seems like more of the new IS are coming with the Dunlops.
That and the RE050 by your own admission, aren't really great tires.
I believe they're being phased out and replaced with the RE050 Pole Position, which is getting much better reviews, but prolly won't be the OEM tire for the IS . . .
