I do miss some aspects of my S2000, but they are about equally replaced by my enjoyment of the IS350's bonus aspects. My S2000 had 4.77 gears, which were anoying on the highway. It was also missing the comfort factor, and sheer power of the IS. I don't think I made a mistake in the trade...

I have an 04 S2000 with hardtop, comptech exhaust, CAI and a few other goodies. I am trying to make both cars in my garage a reality. I think that would give me the best of both worlds.
The S2000 is a blast but my back can't get comfortable on long hauls.
One thing for sure- if I add an IS 350 to my garage it will have either the X or sport package.

My S2K was a Sebring. Had Mugen Exhaust, oem lips and spoilers, hardtop, and full ice system. I do miss it dearly but don't necessarily regret selling it. Just more or less reminiscing I guess with fellow ex-owners.
Maybe someday I can afford to get one to just have as a toy car.... but that won't be for a while, unless I get some sort of magical raise.... I honestly do not regret my decision to pass on the bmw though. Japanese reliability all the way. Honda or Toyota.
I'm dying for the IS350 convertible to come out. I'm going to be first in line...

In fact for any of you ex-owners who were active members of S2ki, I am actually attending the Annual Wake the dragon event this year in April, but I'm bringing the IS350. That road is too much fun to pass up. I went last year with the S and had one of the best times in my automotive life.

I will will miss this summer bombing round with the roof down, I won't miss that I was only able to put 1800 miles on the S2000 in three years because of the two seats, the car was impractical for work and taking my daughter and wife out on the weekends, so I traded the 2003 S2000 and my winter beater 2004 Honda Civic for the IS350 Sport and a set four winter tires/rims.

Actually I did not like the Boxter. I've driven both the newer models and the previous gens. I wasn't impressed with either. I'd take the cayman any day, but the boxter couldn't hold a candle to the S2K.
I put 34 k on my S in a year and a half of ownership. I got some great driving out of it, so I'm not really all that sad.

There's no accounting for taste
The Cayman is just a hardtop Boxster. Both are great cars, and your s2000 isn't bad either, but it's a weekend toy while the Boxster is a much more practical daily driver, and a superb handling mid-engine sports car.
Apples and oranges, I believe. YMMV.

Yea but the driving characteristics of the two cars are very different. The new boxter S while much better than the old gens, doesnt compare to the Cayman S. The Cayman's nature of being a true "hardtop boxter" adds so much more to the driving dynamics. While porsches are known to be great for daily driving, I don't know how "practical" it gets when comparing things like reliability and maint. costs.... hehe. The S2000 was probably one of the cheapest cars to own and maintain because it simply didn't need anything. All the fluids etc were easily accessible. Heck I could do an oil change without jacking up the car(fumoto drain valve) and the oil filter was reached by reaching down the engine bay.
I actually drove the S2k daily for over a year and it was a perfectly fine daily driver.
Now if I can just get a nice raise, I might pick up another one.... haha

I've had THREE S2K'S. The IS is a sloppy pig compared to the handling & fun factor. I just sold my 06 Laguna last week and I'm wondering if the IS shoulda been the car to go. I drive 6 miles to work, don't carry passengers often, and I guess have a lil seller's remorse. There is no comparison from an IS to an S2k and it's not a good replacement car. I had both for a lil over a year and it was getting expensive and ridiculous to have 2 cars. But I sure do miss the S (s) lol, they are just fun to drive!!! I try not to think bout it though!
