Default Rapid ticking sound coming from the engine

Yes, I'm sure you all heard it so don't deny it. I called Lexus today to see what's up with those ticking noises and they told me that all the late ES and IS models do that. Its got something to do with the fuel injectors and poses no harm to our cars. Even pulsating action shouldn't be that loud, whew. At the drive through, my car sounds like a diesel.

Anways, he assured me that if Lexus does solve this problem (I don't think it's a big deal--as long as it doesn't have any harmful side effects), they will let all of us know for a fix.

Oh, lol. I thought at first, it was the knocking sound and I was like , uh-oh. That's not good. Then when I found out it was fuel injection related, a sigh of relief eased my thoughts. There may not be a fix at all for this generation, but maybe for the next.

I don't really mind the sound at all. Now if it were to actually cause damage in the long run, then that would suck and all of us would march down to the Lexus dealer and complain . Recall!!!!

All cars with direct fuel injection, even from other manufacturers, make that sound. It because direct fuel injection works at much higher pressures that port or throttle body FI.

This question is asked frequently enough that it ought to be included in the 2IS FAQ stickied at the top of the forum.

Lexus should have made better insulation or sound proofing. I think that would be the only solution...

Try opening your windows at a drive through fast food place. You'll really hear it there.
