Default New Oil Now Available!

This is probably the best oil available for the IS. I have been holding out for this oil.

Amsoil's new 0w-20 100% synthetic (ASM)

Mobil 1 has been under fire lately because they use some group III base oils, which makes it NOT pure synthetic. Even using group III in their oil, it still has been proven to provide exceptional protection.

Agreed. I have stirred up some talk about this on a Japanese car forum down here even though a lot of people swear by Mobil 1 down here. I won't touch the stuff again and will continue using German Castrol 0W30.

I ran Amsoil 0w-30 in my Supra and immediately developed valve stem seal problems. Not that it isn't a common issue with them, but it was really frustrating that I changed the oil and immediately had issues. I changed back to 10w-30 Red Line and the issue subsided (but only for awhile, I still had to replace the seals).

I wouldn't feel comfortable using a viscosity that wasn't "approved" by Lexus due to warranty concerns.

+1

I'll stick with 5w-20 or 5w-30

If you believe that, then you should buy the $1 generic oil from Walmart.

The dealerships are privately owned businesses. I'm sure they use whatever they want.

I suspect they may have a deal with Castrol. I've heard a couple of dealerships use a Castrol synthetic blend.
