Default Is it time to change out of winter tires yet?

It's still March and in this country, you never know. Here in KS, 50-75 degrees for a couple of weeks now, but I'm scared if I go back to summer tires, we get 6 inches of snow lol. Is it time yet or give it a few more weeks?

Im in Toronto and I am thiking of chainging mine this Monday. It might get cold next week, and there is a possibility of snow, so I am going to wait for the weekend befre my final decision.

I just called Al Gore about this and he said change to summer tires now, but have the pontoons ready as the ice caps are going to put your part of the world 10 feet under water before the end of the year.

Snow tires=snow. Summer tires=no snow. Take snows off when no snow. How hard is that.

Wait until April, then you'll be safe. Plus, everyone knows that it gets crappy again right around St. Patty's day. April, in my opinion, is always a good time.

Wrong !!!! ...... the compounds in Ultra performance tires are next to useless below 10 deg cel (50 deg F)……. why do you think in F1 they put electric blankets over the wheels before the race.

If your seeing consistent temps over 50F go for it ….. why risk $40K worth of car. Besides winter rubber is usually cheaper then your ultra performance summers …. wear them instead.

If your running all-seasons in the summer then i suppose it doesn't matter too much.

Absolutely correct! When I zoom around to and from work with my Pirelli Snowsports, I actually have much better traction than my Dunlop SportMaxx during colder weather or when there is a bunch of road grime or when the road is slimy which seems to be most of the times these days in Chicago.

I'd wait until April to be safe. That's what I'm doing.

You better get yourself some summer tires or all seasons. You're going to burn through those blizzaks pretty fast in summer conditions. Blizzaks aren't meant to be driven in hot weather. They are too soft, not to mention you're handling will be crap.

Around the 2nd week in April for me. That's when I took delivery of my IS last year with the summer rubber on and other than a little dusting of snow one day, it was clears sailing after that.
