Man, I don’t know why but I really hate the sound of my engine at idol and drive speed. It sounds almost appliance like. Say compare it to my Sti at idol, the thing sounded like a raging beast. I could hear the thing growling at me from my garage threw out my house… as if calling to me to go hit it. My S2000 sounded like a raging beast. Even my TL Type s (260 hp) sounded a lot better. Every time I walk up to my IS350 idling I think "washing machine". When Im at speed and I lightly accelerate I feel disappointed. I can understand Lexus wanting to keep it down for the "luxo" feel but its just way to tame. On the flip side, when you stomp it and it shifts down 2 gears at pops up to 6K RPM, it sounds great like a raging beast.
300 hp should = grawl at any RPM.
And I don’t want to get a custom exhaust, I want the noise to came from in front of me from all them horses screaming.

That's toyota engine for you. Most Toyota engines sound bland and monotone. My GS400 sounds the same no matter if i'm at 3k rpm or 5k rpm. it just gets louder, but the tone still sounds the same.
But an intake fixed that. Actually an intake was noiser than I wanted it. When I floored my car, the growl is intoxicating. But at the same time, I was getting 10mpg so I sold the intake. heh.

The IS350 is one of the very few Toyotas that doesn't sound like an appliance at full-song. The car sounds great with an uncorked exhaust... but I'd hate to fing out how raspy it could get without cats.

the "washing machine" sound of the is350 is kinda buggin me lately as well.especially when the car is in park. its not necessary. i tell myself that 306 horses need a lot of "washing."
ok well that didnt make any sense. *crawls back into hole*
