After I installed the black Carbon Fiber trim on the door switches and console last month I got interested in adding a new license plate frame to the IS. I do not like the plastic chrome ones that advertise the car dealer (why should they get free advertising?), and the frames found at Wal-Mart and most auto parts places seem to be made for trucks and American cars. Nothing I wanted on my car. I decided to go the CF route as CF looks good with a silver colored car, but the ones I’d seen previously were either imitation CF or were too rough looking. I searched around CL but didn't come up with much. After a bit of searching on the Net I found a company that made real CF frames, www.realcarbonfiber.com, and although the price wasn’t cheap it seemed reasonable for a real CF product and one that was in line with what the CF interior trim cost. So I ordered one to check it out; it came last week. Slipping it out of its bubble wrap I was impressed with the glossy finish and gently rounded corners. Finish is very reminiscent of the CF trim package. And the frame is designed so all screw holes and screws are covered. The plate area is covered by a UV resistant clear acrylic plastic window.

Installation only takes about ten minutes and the way the plate attaches makes theft less likely. A few pics are attached.

Impressions
It is a very good looking piece of equipment with extremely high standards of finish. I like the fact that it does not intrude much into the license plate itself and all lettering and symbols are visible.

When I took the frame out of the package I noticed a scratch on the frame in the lower right hand corner (3rd pic). I debated whether to ask for a replacement but decided it wasn’t that serious. I dropped some feedback to the company, along with a pic, and they came back and said the scratch was not acceptable. They immediately sent a replacement plate out, so I give them 10 out of 10 on standing behind their product.

CF isn’t to everybody’s taste, but if you are looking for a CF frame this is a serious product that would look good on any expensive auto. Highly recommended.

Wow this look nice but $49.95 for CF is alot of money. Is it for a set for that price?

$50 for the CF frame isn't outrageous considering the OEM lexus frames cost $40 each.

So how much time did you shave off the 0-60 with those weight savings? lol

I like the no screw look. however i have never been a fan of CF, but if you are making it a theme of your car go for it. $49 bucks isn't much for happiness

After that, I will usually tell them my next mod on the car.
