Default HDD in 08 IS?

Hey guys! This is my first post in the clublexus forum. I have a 06 IS250 AWD (blk/blk LP/Nav ) for a lil more than a year (and i love it!!)
I checked the Japanese Lexus website and found that they got 30 GB hard drives in the current IS..
My question is ..
1. Does anyone know if the 08 model is gunna come with the 30 GB HDD?
2. Is it possible to place a HDD in our 06 and 07 model?

Thx

My guess only...
Ans1. No, because I think Lex is too lazy to drop new toys in the same car that is selling well already.
Ans2. Yes. You can do many other crazy things besides a HDD player especially with aftermarket A/V parts.

I wish they are putting HDD in the ride. Since they already put it in Japanese IS, it wont cost them any to put those in every IS they made for USA.... damn... If 08 IS is gunna equip with HDD, i would wait for that

Check out the V-Link VS1 gadget. Supposedly, you can connect any usb drive to the OEM NAVI and able to play any video or music file.

Thanks for the link. According to the babelfish translation of the webpage you provided, you can't transfer your mp3 collection by a USB, Firewire, or eSata connection. The cds have to have to be ripped in the car.

If this is true, the 30gb of space available is a piece of crap !

Burning your whole collection in hundreds of cds and ripping them back to the HDD in your car one by one its obviously unpracticle. This translation must be wrong or my english is the one to blame for.

I highly doubt it'll be on this gen's IS that they would add a new feature like that. 3rd gen IS will be more likely. Where can I get one of those V-Links? Only from Japan?

By the way, there is a lot of speculation about the HDD availability in the 08' IS.

Supposedly, Lexus finally took the decision to included this feature in the 2008 model. So yes ! it will come with HDD.

I think lexus will make one soon for the ISX50 models in the USA because the LS 460 2007 USA models already have the HDD navi option.

Why don't you ask your dealer? They should know by now.

I'm not for HDD in a car -- how do they cool it? Heating problems would be my biggest concern -- don't want to burn it up, and even then it will probably a 5200 rpm lump of junk. However, a Lexus run by Linux would be awesome.

looks really neat...sure you can do an aftermarket system for half the cost of OEM and allow for the same features.

that would be a really awesome to have from the factory!
