Page 357 of the manual tells how to get it out of Park, but it may not work, since it says to put the ignition in ACC mode (which you can't do if your key doesn't work.)

True...and try to press the brake as hard as you can this time and push the start button.

But, if the car said key is not detected, I think it's much more complicated than that. Computer in the car error? key fob malfunction?

Keep us updated.

Maybe try taking the battery out of the FOB and then put them back in. Might reset the FOB and possibly help.

Sorry to hear about your problems, I am assuming you tried both fobs. Or unplugging the car battery and the plugging it back in to try and reset the system? Keep us updated as we may all have this problem at some point or another.

It's not likely it's the fob if it doesn't work with either of them. There is an inside oscillator that sends an RF signal to the fob, and the fob replies to the inside oscillator. If the inside oscillator doesn't receive a reply from the fob, the multidisplay says Key not Detected, and nothing happens after that. If there is a problem with the inside oscillator, then nothing is going to happen other than key not detected.

Without (at the least) DTCs to figure out what the systems are seeing, there is little we can do over the Internet to help. I am surprised it is not possible to disengage the transmission to tow the car though. That seems very odd. You should be able to do that regardless of the electrical status.

Have you tried disconnecting the car battery? I would try that next if you haven't gotten your car towed yet. Maybe some onboard computer freaked out and just needs to be reset. I would leave the battery disconnected for a few minutes (20 or so, it shouldn't need to be left unplugged that long, but just to be sure) and then try it again.

I hope they're not using Microsoft code. I can see it now - multidisplay says - If you have not seen this error before...

That's what I thought, too, but on page 357, it says you need to put the ignition in ACC mode to use the screwdriver trick on the shifter. Theft-prevention?

Good luck with that bro. Keep us updated
Since we're in this topic. I wonder if anyone has had problems locking the car after parking it. I had that happen to me like 3 or 4 times. Wouldn't lock using the key or the button on the door handle.

There is a little like door next to the gear selector that you can pop off with a screwdriver and there is a little rubber coated button beneith this that when depressed allows you to change the gear....
