Default How long did you have your 2IS before you waxed it?

Just curious ... my car is on a transporter right now, being delivered from California to Maryland.

I'm sure it's going to get quite dirty ... and will need a good wash when it arrives. However, I was wondering how long everyone waited before they first waxed their IS.

Seems as though Zaino wax is the favorite amongst CLers ...

Thanks!

Well I didn't wax I used acrylic one month after I got her and let me say its a mirror image with a one year warranty. I also used them for the wheels so they just wash right off without anything.

I waited until it was 2 months old, but Lexus recommends waxing monthly.

I used a Paint Sealant from 3M the first week and every 3 months there after. I also used a wax from P&S every month I don't use the sealant.

ummmmmmm? I thought that school of thought was just for us car whackos that come on message boards to write about them I'd like to see where lexus recommends to everyone that they wax their car monthly. That sounds more like a Zaino Bros. recommendation

oh, and to answer the original question. I had mine waxed about a week after I bought it because the dealer wash put swirl marks all over the car.

Hmmm... this thread has me a bit worried.

I've had mine for very close to six months, and no wax so far. Just the occasional hand wash.

I'm new to this whole idea of having a car that I care about keeping shiny and pretty, though, heh. So I'm not sure exactly how much I'm supposed to do to keep it looking its best for as long as possible.

I waxed my IS the second weekend after I got it.
Then I have been waxing monthly (more or less, depending on the weather)

I waxed it after 2 months. Wished I've waxed it sooner but it'll have to do.

I think I win/lose this thread. I waited ~15 months from time of delivery to first wax job on my IS300.
