Default 15K Service(Noobie question)

Hi,

I know many threads has been discussed regarding 15K service but imma
ask anyways... I already passed a little over 15K and ready to take this
baby to the dealer for an oil change... I was going to do the major service
by the time I hit 30K, then 60K so forth... On the maintenace manual,
for the 15K service, it stated that they do

1) clean a/c filter
2) inpect engine air filter

* Do they just clean these or replace them?

Also, can I just ask them to do the oil change + replace both
a/c filter + engine filter separately? Is this even possible?
If so, how much am I looking to pay? or should I just have them do the 15K service?

Thanks in advance,

sure you can tell them to do whatever you want...otherwise here's some numbers they'll probably charge you for service. Most of these are just oil changes...and "inspections" which I believe is just BS.

5k $0
10k $144
15k $328
20k $144
25k $144
30k $442
35k $144
40k $144
45k $368

Jay1977: You can have them change your oil, and replace both the engine filter and A/C filter for CHEAPER than the cost of the "15k service".

The 15k "service" includes numerous "checks" where they "inspect" your car... This is worthless IMHO...

So, just tell them what you want:

1) oil and filter change
2) engine filter change
3) a/c filter change

(Personally, I'd change the engine and a/c filter myself). Takes 5 minutes and you will do a better job than the dealer will because you care about your car and the mechanic at the dealer does not...

you might not even need to change your ac filter at 15k..i took mine out to inspect it and it was still good and i live in the hot south.

Do you have pics of what yours looked like? Just wondering if I should waste my time checking mine.

Honestly, I don't think a visual inspection of the A/C filter is worth anything... A visual inspection is usually only good for the engine filter...

The A/C filter is the air you breathe... Visually inspecting it you can't see certain pollens, dust, etc... I change my A/C filter MINIMUM once a year, so like every 10k or 15k miles... Usually I end up changing it 2-3 times a year... Since I always change it before and after the summer months (which here in the DC area is full of allergens and pollen)... It's cheap, easy, and fast to do.... My philosophy is, why be stingy over a few dollars for the air you breathe? I change my home air filters once a month even though the filter recommends every 3 months...

Ok, I confess. I've owned the car 4 months now. I've yet to pop the hood.

Is changing the engine and a/c filters a complicated process? How do you "inspect" and what are you looking for?

I don't see a DIY in the FAQ. Any volunteers to show us (with pics?) Thanks.

A/C filter is super easy to change, it's in the glove box. No need to open the hood! :-)

I believe if you look in your owner's manual, it shows you how to change all filters...
