I always get stopped with questions about it and someone last week outside of 7-11 was anaylzing the entire car inside out, infact they were stunned over the interior. O and he has a 2006 325i.

a guy in the next car over complimented me on the color of my car at a stop light. it was totally random! another time some guy stopped me while i was working in the field to ask questions about it. i wasted 30 minutes standing there talking about the car! i wanted to leave but he kept asking me so many questions that i didn't have a chance to say, "hey shuttup for a second will ya? i gotta get back to work!"

like projectdna said, we have a lot of them in socal, but i still get stares on occasion and get asked if its brand new a lot - even though i bought it in nov. of 05! i keep my baby CLEAN!

Yeah, it's nice drawing the occasional looks and questions.
... Strangely enough, both of the times anyone has actually approached me about the car, I was getting a sandwich from Quiznos. Seems pretty random.
There are a lot of nice cars around here, but 2IS's are EXTREMELY rare for whatever reason. I usually go several days at a time without seeing another one... Although they're starting to become just a little more common now.

2ISs are pretty common up here too, but the guy at the carwash I go to is convinced mine is the best color, and I have one of only 2 GFMs I've seen...read below for the other.
LOL, T, the guy I sit next to told me that the IS was a "playa's car" and that I clearly wasn't a playa (I AM an engineer, after all...). Then yesterday I saw a co-op from another department driving a GFM 2IS! (I bet it was a 250 though, but she was digging through the trunk when I went past).
Well....I bought my car right after graduating college at age of 21. And due to that, I get lots of STARES! I got buddies and co-workers who use the term "Baller", which I obviously don't mind 
I also get lots of looks on highway coz my car is always shining like the freakin sun!!

believe it or not, when i was in the city (NYC) in SoHo, i was waiting for the pedestrians to cross for me to make a left, and this beautiful spanish girl just goes, Me Encanta Tu Carro which basically means i love ur car. i was pretty gassed after that.
ive gotten alot of compliments on the car, but my favorite was when my cousin, also 19, just bought himself a BMW 530i and we were parked in front of our job, my car in front of his, and this older lady, im guessing in her mid 40's walked by and said, this car is so beautiful. i thought she was talking about his because it came staight from the dealer and was shining and looking very nice, but she was looking dead at the IS. my cousin got so upset lol it was great

i get no love in the newport/irvine area. wouldnt blame then cuz they're a dime a dozen driven by a bunch of kids. not to mention there are ferraris and lambos commonly driven on the streets.
