Mother of all "Should I get IS250 or IS350?" threads (merged into one steaming pile)
#440
i could afford my used 350, and if i would have went to a slower vehicle than my tacoma i would have been bummed. but that is just me. mpg wasnt an issue for me because i can race around town all i want, and still get 20mpg that 6 more than i got with the taco!

I have the IS 350 and find the power to be pretty exhilarating, but here's the weird thing.
99.9% of the time I'm not using the power of the 350 at all. I'm just sitting on 1/10 throttle cruising at 60, 70, 75, whatever it may be. I rarely have need to accelerate hard from a dig or from a roll and indeed I don't do it.
But, when I was driving an IS 250 loaner (350 was in overnight for simple service) I drove it at the same speed/acceleration as my 350 but it still annoyed me. I felt annoyed that I didn't have the capability to accelerate hard if I wanted to.
To summarize it goes back to the "I like having 300 crank hp 'on tap'" saying that I've seen some 350 owners say in the past, even if we're not using that kind of power all the time (or even most of the time).
I think if I started out with the IS 250 it wouldn't be an issue. Once you've had a taste of 300 HP+ it's very difficult to downgrade even if you're not exploiting all 300 horses.
This is the very reason why I don't dare test drive the F until I fully intend on purchasing (which I may but it's going to be some years down the road for sure).

Hey thanks to all the 350 owners for puttin in their 2 cents. But its pretty obvious y u gotta a 350 over a 250. The power. I agree the extra 100hp would be nice 2% of the time. But its all good what ever floats ur boat.

I bought it because I wanted Slower Car...LOL
it is definitely worth to get extra 100 HP for 5k or less, but for me, that's only worth if it also came in MANUAL.....
although there ISN'T much difference in gas miles, I would still say 250s consume little LESS gas..lol..I just know this after caravaning from SoCal to NorCal with other 350 owners
I'm pretty sure everyone has different reasons, and to be honest,,WHO CARES

Back when I got my car in 2008. I tried hard to find a fully loaded IS250 in manual (in SP or SGM). But couldn't find one (only no optioned ones), so i ~settled~ and got a 350 in GFM. Power-wise i am happy i got the 350; the power was really different from the auto 250 i test drove...
but I miss driving stick so much... thinking about getting used s2000/350z on the side hehe

So I searched for this already didn't get anything.... so if its already been asked my bad..
So I'm wonderin why all my fellow 250 owners got a 250 instead of a 350???
I got a 250 bec I'm not concerned about bein faster than a lot of cars out there... gotta motorcycle when I need to feed that urge to go fast ...
Was it the price difference? Availiability?
And for those who did get a 250 do you wish you bought a 350 now??? I don't I'm happy

or because mommy and daddy thought you would get too many tickets or get in a accident in the 350 because you were driving too fast.
