same here man, while my friends are out speeding with their sti's and s4's, I'd rather live driving slow, plus since this is going to be my first car, I'm going to be extra careful with it, not to mention the fuel economy I'll be getting.

 

1) IS250 have the manual. No auto for me, even if it means an extra 100hp
2) Base IS250 RWD 6MT in Canada is $36,400 and base IS350 RWD 6AT is $48,900. That's 12 grand Canadian in difference. I'm surprised the price difference in the U.S. is merely 5 grand US.
3) For me, there is no need for 300hp. It will just tempt me to speed and drive faster than I should. Even with the IS250 I'm already always breaking the speed limit, because the 2IS is so quiet and smooth I often don't realize how fast I'm going.

 

Who said the IS250 is slow, it's capable of hitting 140mph just like the 350 but will just take longer to get there.

 

But you didn't spend your money to race. If you want to race, spend your money on a real sports car like the Evo. You're not cheap, you just used your money on other things than speed. I don't get people that spend on the 350 to race and yet it can't beat a cheaper car like the Evo.

 

I agree with you! I went with the IS250 because of its AWD capabilities. If I wanted a car for its speed and for racing, I would've bought myself a Porsche or something thats known for racing...not a 350. It kinda irritates me to know that people actually race with a 350...

 

I don't have either one. But I am planning to trade in my 03 G35 sedan for an IS, I probably would choose IS250 because of the better fuel consumption and the cheaper price.

 

there is no option of no dealer had the right combo i wanted and didnt want to wait 6 months to one year we got like 3 350 on dealer lots we only got 3 dealers in WA and two are owned by the same owner

 

got an AWD for the snow in NY... but snow in NY doesnt even exist anymore so i kinda regret it

 

+1, if I could've found an IS250 equipped like I wanted, I prolly would've bought it. For some odd reason, IS250s are not allocated to SoCal with Sport pkg + ML/Nav, which is basically all I wanted. Didn't want to play russian roulette with a special order, so I just 'settled' on an IS350 which was sitting on the dealers lot waiting for a good home . . .

 

My IS250 is a commute car so definitely fuel economy is important. I've had fast rides most of my driving life. Not to mention my driving style calmed down over the years, less chance of getting a speeding ticket, and most important - that extra money I would have spent on 100 more ponies, I invested on something that appreciated $$ in just a couple of months.

 

Went with the 250:

- Was looking more for a luxury vs sports car
- Wanted AWD for Northeast winters
- Didn't care about quick starts off the line

 

For midwestern sleet, ice & snow. This decision has been vindicated several times since Jan 1st. I was also able to trade in a fully paid for 04 GX 470 with 30,000 miles on it. Thus, I have a fully paid for 06 Lexus with only 13,000 miles after having it a year.

 

Damn you must drive slow, I will never see numbers like that in my car.

 

a few reasons

1- i'm more concerned with quality and luxury over performance
2- it's my fiancee's car..she's a pretty aggressive driver/speeder and not sure I would trust her with that huge engine
3- live in atlanta..due to traffic, not many chances to drive fast

 

#1 Gas mileage
#2 Less power = less tickets
#3 Happy to have my 1st Lexus - doesn't have to have all the extras
