Default Brake TSB Done-Very Happy

Well I had the brake recall about 1200 miles ago and I'm very happy with the results. The brake dust is probably about 1/4 of what it was-maybe less. I can now go a week easily without washing my can and it doesn't look like crap. And my travel week is about 600-700 miles so the dust was bad before.

There is no noticable difference in brake performance either. In fact, when I had the TSB done, I didn't even know they had done it. I had taken my car in to Lexus of Glendale for my 10,000 mile service and at that time requested to have the TSB done. They told me they did not have the parts and that they would contact me when they did; maybe a week or so.

So I took the car home and started using it and after a couple days I noticed there was no dust. I hadn't used the car a lot though and and thought maybe it was just my imagination. After about 300-400 miles though I knew something was up. So I checked my work order (I know I should have looked earlier, but I don't pay attention to that kind of stuff), and what-do-you-know...the TSB was done. Pads and an anti-squeek shim kit.

No regrets at all...I'm very satisfied with the dust level and brake performance now.

Good to hear.

I was always wondering why people were concerned about brake performance. I mean, the brakes are used for a heavier 340 hp GS450h!!!

Sweet... I'm definitely going to do it before I go paint my wheels.

Just do a Search and you'll find all the info you need about your car.

As for TSBs, there was something for seatbelts and possible oil leak on the '06 models, and brake pads for the '06/'07 IS350s only.

TSB = Technical Service Bulletin and like the person above me said you could just search the forums and you should find any that you should be concerned about

what brake recall? i don't believe there was a recall on the brakes, if it wasn't really a recall, we shouldn't be calling it that so as to alarm other owners (who read this) who don't have problems with their brakes. if i am mistaken i apologize.

You are not mistaken. It is not a recall, it is a TSIB - Technical Service Information Bulletin. You will not get the low dust pads unless you "complain" about the brake dust to your service advisor. It is a free brake pad change. Those of us who have done this seem to be 100% satisfied with both the braking and the dust reduction.

FWIW, I drove down CA Hwy 1 from Monterey to Los Angeles with a detour to my favorite twisty road in the world (PM me if you want to know where it is, I won't spoil it by putting it in a public forum) and my front wheels look no different than my back wheels. I used the brakes extensively and aggressively during significant portions of the drive. They work just fine, even under heavy street use.

I have to say I got this done a few weeks ago, and have been very pleased at the reduction in dust. I like the more progressive feel of the brake pedal now too. It was too sensitive before.

I remember a post a while back saying that the 250s were also issued a TSB on the brake pads. Is that true? Anybody have a copy of the TSB?

Good! I'd definitely get this done when I bring in my car for service.

Default having mine done this very moment!

they were REALLY cool about it - the service rep was kinda like "huh?!?!" but he brought the tech over and he was more than happy to do it - i think not everyone really knows about this.

the tech told me that he was OBLIGATED to tell me that there was a good chance that i could see a significant drop in performance, then he kinda lowered his voice and told me that no one has really noticed any difference that he had heard of. so i say....GO FOR IT!!!

OK, what about us poor 250 owners - we're still scrubbing wheels.
